Using the highest quality fiber materials and world-class needling techniques and equipment, HL Filter manufactures a wide range of Acrylic (PAN) needle felts with high dust-holding capacity and good air permeability. The advantage of this fiber compared to copolymeric PAN fiber is its higher temperature resistance, improved chemical resistance and higher strength. It is used mainly where polyester cannot be used owing to high moisture conditions.

The PI/P84 media has good chemical resistance, but this is endangered under highly alkaline moisture conditions. There is a limited tendency to oxidation through O2 or NO2 at high temperatures.

PTFE (also called Telfon ) has excellent resistance to both acids and alkalis, restricted abrasion resistance, and has a maximum operating temperature of 500º F. The PTFE felts are costly due to an intensive production process. In return PTFE has an outstanding thermal and chemical stability.
